Christian Country Music Artist, Singer, Songwriter Amanda Fessant
Amanda was born on May 30, 1976. She will turn 30 years old this year and has accomplished quite a bit for her age. Amanda started writing songs at age 13 and started performing soon after. Her first featured concert was at age 15 and, by this time in her life, she knew she wanted to become serious about her music. She recorded her first music project while in high school and released her first single "A Baby's Cry" her senior year at age 17. Amanda's first single did well for her on Christian radio and she began traveling throughout the United States.
While on the road people began asking her to speak at many events. Amanda started speaking on her own personal battle with peer pressure and her choice to remain abstinent until marriage. She would also give her testimony and tell how through God's strength and love he saved her from suicide.
In 1997 Amanda began working on her second music project and released "Uncontaminated" that summer. The project gained lots of attention for Amanda and really began to prove how serious she was about reaching out with her music. The song "You" received radio airplay across the nation and the song "Luminary" charted at #3 in New York. She received a great review from CCM magazine's Indie Column and was WAY-FM prayer artist of the week in Nashville, Tennessee.
Amanda won the Gospel Music Association's Song of '98 regional in Indianapolis in 1998 for her song "In Awe". She was honored during Gospel Music Week '98 by EMI Music as one of the best upcoming songwriters.
Amanda's music has grown and is allowing her to share more and more. She has opened for Brian Barrett, Ian Eskelin, All Star United, Ashley Cleveland, and has shared the stage with Audio Adrenaline, Super Chicks, The Waiting, and Small Town Poets. She has been featured in a magazine in Nigeria and received airplay. Other countries which have become a big fan base for her music are Latvia, Argentina, Chile, El Salvador, Puerto Rico and more.
Amanda continues to travel throughout the United States speaking and singing. She has recently written a program called "God-esteem" which encourages and uplifts young girls and ladies to be the wonderful women God has created them to be. She is in the process of writing her first book under the same title. She is excited about the possibilities and the differences the program has and can make.
Amanda released her third CD "Hello, This is Me" in June of 2002, her first with producer Eric Copeland of Creative Soul Records. That release garner her a top place finish in the Embassy Music Songwriting competition, and the title song gained her the first publishing contract. The song "You Are There" also was given top honors at an earlier Embassy Music Songwriting competition.
This spring Amanda is busy writing and preparing for the studio to begin her newest project with her new producer, Robert Jason. Amanda is taking a different direction with this project as she is venturing into contemporary Christian Country. She loves this new direction and is in hopes that all her friends will enjoy the change in style as she grows with her writing and music. Those interested in this latest project may pre-order it through her web site or by contacting her by e-mail. The project should be completed by this fall.
